What Does a Chiropractor Do - Dynamic Chiropractic

What Does a Chiropractor Do?

Over the years, a growth of misconception of what chiropractors do has increased drastically. Many think of Chiropractors as “back crackers” or “bone crackers”. To an extent, this is and is not correct. As chiropractors, we do cause cracks or pops to occur which are called cavitations meaning an audible could be heard during an adjustment. Many think that this

cracking noise heard is the bone actually moving, however, this audible is just gases that have been built up between the joints being released due to a direct force to that joint. For many that noise is very satisfying to hear, to others it can be scary. Understand this, those cracks and pops you hear are not the bones breaking or slamming into each other, nor is it any indicator that the bone being adjusted has actually been corrected.

As chiropractors our primary goal is to free your body of nerve interference. Our brain is constantly sending signals to every cell, muscle, tissue and organ in our body. Nerve interference impedes our brains ability to get a full signal to those systems causing a disruption in function. Have you ever been on the phone with someone and the signal keeps cutting out so you only get part of the message? That is exactly what is occurring with the messages from your brain to the rest of your body. Now think about this, would you want your stomach to get only part of the message of what enzymes to release at exactly what time to help promote the initial stages of food breakdown? Even worse, what about your heart, would you want your heart getting jumbled messages from your brain, most likely you are thinking absolutely not!

So how do you avoid having these jumbled messages from occurring in the first place? This is exactly where chiropractors come in handy, we specifically find areas of the spine where there is a bony misalignment causing this nerve interference leading to the jumbled messages. Once these areas are found, we work to restore the normal biomechanical movement pattern of that joint which in turn leads to reduced nerve interference at that joint.

For most of us, its easy to take a pill to get out of pain for a day or two, but all this does is put a bandaid over the issue temporarily without actually getting to the root cause. Ask yourself, would putting a sticker over your check engine light so you cant see it fix the issue with your car? The answer is no, the problem is still there you just chose to not see it, that’s the same concept as taking a pill to cover up your symptoms. Chiropractic helps get to that root cause, granted this process is usually not an instant fix, think about it, it could have taken your body years to develop these issues, so it’s not logical that it would only take one adjustment to fix the problem. A series of chiropractic adjustments not only takes care of the root problem but also helps increase your range of motion, increases your overall mobility, spinal joint stability, as well as can help reduce symptoms of pain.

If you or someone you know is tired of using a bandaid for temporary relief, please give us a call and we will gladly help get to the root cause of your problems.
